About Me
Khalid has more than 24 years of comprehensive background serving both corporate and non-profit organizations in the area of Branding and Marketing Strategy, incorporating creation and implementation of his experience across Education, Telecom, IT, Tourism, and government sectors. He held leadership roles in Management, Strategy, PR, Media, International Relations and Brand Management. Khalid is an expert when it comes to negotiating contracts, developing partnerships, supporting sales, business effort, crisis management and public relations.
Khalid held the position of Director General of Information and Awareness division at the Ministry of Technology and Communications (previously as Information Technology Authority) since May 2012. During the period of 2008-2012, Khalid was the Country Director for Oman at My Destination/My Guide Network; a global Travel Network Company based in the UK. Also, between 2004-2008, Khalid worked for Oman leading Telecommunications Companies (Omantel); and Oman mobile as Head of the Corporate Branding and in charge of Corporate Communications VP. While being there, Oman Mobile won the best brand in Oman in both 2006 and 2007. Khalid’s career started in 1998 at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) where he got promoted through until he became The Director of Public Relations and Information.
Khalid was selected amongst 962 Omanis in the government sector to join The National Leadership & Competitiveness Program (NLCP) with 34 other highly qualified candidates. He completed the 8 months program (September 2017 – April 2018). The NLCP is a national highly specialized leadership program established by the Diwan of Royal Court with directions from His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed (may Allah rest him in the abodes of the pious and righteous in Paradise) in partnership with Saïd Business School at The University of Oxford. The program vision was to build a community of Omani government leaders with an outcome-oriented mind-set able to advance the Sultanate’s competitiveness. It aimed at enhancing the participants’ leadership skills by helping them broaden their perspectives, deepen their technical knowledge, and building their networks within government and externally with the private sector.
Khalid completed his high school education from Jaber Bin Zaid School and earned a bachelor's degree from SQU in Physics with minor in Computer Science. In 2014 and 2015, he completed two Senior Executive Training Programs through George Washington University and IMD Business School in Switzerland, and the other one was in the UK at London Business School. Khalid has held a variety of memberships including being a member of the Oman 2040 Vision Communication Committee, a member of Oman Tourism Strategy 2040 and a member at The National Committee of the World Trade Organization.
