About Me
Dr. Lamya Harub Al Kharusi is a distinguished Omani expert specialising in diplomatic relations, political economy, strategic planning, and policies related to economics and energy security. With over seventeen years of practical experience spanning both the public and private sectors, she was selected as a member of the prestigious National Collaborative Leadership Program in 2020. Academically, Lamya holds a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from California State University, Long Beach, a Master's degree in Political Philosophy (Middle Eastern and Asian Languages & Cultures) from Columbia University in New York, and a Ph.D. in Political Economy of Energy Security from the esteemed War Studies Department at King's College London. Dr. Lamya's distinguished career includes her tenure at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2008 to 2018, during which she engaged in numerous high-level bilateral and multilateral consultations involving more than 20 countries. Her portfolio also boasts management and oversight of several critical strategic national projects, such as the "Jewel of Muscat" project and the "Muscat Street" project in Singapore. Further, she played an integral role in the "Abu al-Rayhan al-Biruni Library" project in Uzbekistan and the "Oman et la Mer" project in France, among other impactful international endeavors. Her contributions extend to the Peaceful Nuclear Technology Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she significantly contributed to shaping the regulatory framework for the safe and responsible utilisation of peaceful radioactive materials within the Sultanate of Oman. Presently, she serves as the IPO Execution Manager, a position that placed her at the forefront of orchestrating one of the Sultanate of Oman's most prominent IPO subscriptions in recent decades. Additionally, she has taken the helm of various projects related to renewable energy and environmental policy development and regulations. In a prior role, she led as the Chief Executive Officer's Office at Oman Oil Company, also assuming the mantle of Board Secretary of the Company's Board of Directors. Moreover, Dr. Lamya was seconded to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as a strategic planning expert, tasked with aligning the ministry's organisational structure with Oman Vision 2040. Her involvement extended to the Energy Lab at the Implementation and Monitoring Support Unit, where she made significant contributions to numerous workshops associated with the Oman Vision 2040 initiative. Beyond her aforementioned roles, she has been an active lecturer and assistant researcher at various distinguished foreign universities. In addition to her official endeavors, Dr. Lamya is a devoted volunteer, engaging with multiple charitable associations. Notably, she pioneered the first-ever program in the Sultanate of Oman designed to empower and train individuals with special needs, thereby enhancing their prospects within the competitive job market. Her influence reaches into various professional domains, as evidenced by her board membership in the Anglo Omani Society (The New Generation Group), her advisory role on the Political Science Advisory Board at Sultan Qaboos University, and her position on the board of the philanthropic entity Glocal Volunteers.
