Sulaiman Al Lamki is the Chief Risk Officer and General Manager of HSBC Bank Oman S.A.O.G. His role includes leading the Bank’s risk management function, working closely with local, regional and global risk practitioners, as well as the senior team in Oman, to provide clear direction and sound judgement on all risk matters. As Chief Risk Officer, Sulaiman is responsible for Wholesale & Market Risk, Retail Credit, Operational Risk, Risk Strategy and Security & Fraud Risk.

The risk function plays a key role in helping the Bank to avoid potential future risks and in protecting the employees, assets and reputation of the Bank, while supporting its goals to grow shareholder value and profitability. Sulaiman has extensive international experience and local knowledge. Having worked in global financial services for over 22 years, including the Royal Bank of Scotland Group in the UK, where he held a global chief risk officer role, and also with Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank and KPMG London.

Sulaiman is a UK qualified chartered accountant and has worked in various countries including the UK, US, Netherlands, UAE and Oman. He has been in a number of roles in Financial Services with exposure to Risk Management, Investment Banking, Structured Finance, Change Management, Investment Management, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Financial Accounting Standards, Consulting and Audit Assurance.
