About Me

Abeer obtained her college degree from the Richmond College in the U.K. in 1990 and her MBA in 2006 from Strathclyde University. Abeer started her career as a research analyst at the Muscat Securities Market, but went on to specialize in private equity investments. She worked for the State General Reserve Fund for 12 years and was responsible for the Global private equity investments. Following that she worked for seven years in private equity investments in Oman in companies such as Tanmia, Oman Oil Company and Oman Brunei Investment Company.

Within her career she was also able to successfully start and lead new companies. In 2008, she was appointed the General Manager of GroFin Oman (Subsidiary of GroFin in South Africa) and set up the company including recruiting, staff, operation, marketing and providing financing to SMEs in Oman. In 2010, she was appointed as the CEO of Oman Brunei Investment Company (OBIC) a private equity company set up in Muscat with US$ 100 million capital. Whilst at OBIC, and with board approval, she set up the business plan and strategy and managed the operation of the company. The company had a proactive investment strategy and invested in different stages of business including start ups, turnarounds and mature private equity companies. In addition, the investment spectrum was diverse and included several sectors including: telecom, hospitality, manufacturing, and aviation leasing.
